Today, L’Oréal India announced the latest edition of the FYWIS 2022- For Young Women in Science Scholarship. The scholarship is a merit-based scholarship programme tailored to provide a platform for aspiring girls to seek their graduation in the field of science.

L’Oréal India is inviting applications for the programme of which the victorious candidates will be given a scholarship sum of up to INR 2,50,000 to cover their educational expenses. An extension of the international L’ORÉAL UNESCO FOR WOMEN IN SCIENCE partnership, the programme acknowledges women's contribution to shaping the future of science by helping and supporting them to achieve their ambitions.

Initiated in 2003 in India, the For Young Women in Science scholarship (FYWIS) programme aims to empower young women from lower-privileged backgrounds to seek science-based graduation programmes at any reputable academic institution according to their choice. The programme is available for graduate studies in any field of science – pure sciences, engineering, applied sciences, and medicine, among others.

Director of corporate affairs and engagement, L’Oréal India Krishna Vilasini Bharadwaj stated that at L’Oréal, we believe women empowerment is a thing of natural beauty, and we are committed to empowering women both inside L’Oréal and across the world. Today, great strides are being made in order to guarantee equal representation in science, and acquiring access to STEM education remains incredibly problematic for women in India. By offering them financial aid, this scholarship aims to create avenues for meritorious girls to seek varied scientific disciplines. Since its inception, the For Young Women in Science scholarship programme has empowered around 485 young women in the science field. Krishna added that we look forward to inspiring many more young minds and helping them construct a bright future and contribute to society.
