Malaysia Govt Permitted Entry To International Students, Must Meet New COVID Rules

Many countries have started permitting the arrival of international students post-Covid. The Malaysia Govt is also set to welcome international students who have already enrolled with Malaysian institutions. The students from most countries are welcome to return as long as they meet an extensive series of rules set by the host country.



The officials also informed that the consequences for not meeting the safety measures are serious. The arrival process has commenced on Dec 15, yet there are accounts of students being refused entry on arrival because of their incomplete paperwork or some other procedural matters.



Banned Countries: The officials have banned the students from 08 African countries to fly into Malaysia because of the spiking Omicron infection rates in such areas. These African countries are:





  • South Africa




  • Eswatini




  • Botswana




  • Lesotho




  • Namibia




  • Mozambique




  • Zimbabwe




  • Malawi





Requirements: The requirements for the students who wish to enter the country are mentioned below:





  • An RT-PCR COVID-19 test taken 03 days prior to the travelling.




  • Another PCR test upon arrival i.e. on Day 10 and Day 18.




  • To remain in strict quarantine for 14 days or any period as stipulated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. The quarantines period can be extended up to 21 days.




  • A negative PCR test to leave quarantine.





For all the tests and quarantine periods, the students will be bearing the expenses. In case students want to return to their homes due to any pandemic-related situation in Malaysia, they will be permitted to do so provided their adherence to official measures about travelling.



For the current duration, the students can not bring their dependents to Malaysia.
