An Innovation Portal, National Innovation Portal, developed by NIF (National Innovation Foundation) - India (an autonomous body of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India) has been dedicated to the nation by the Union Minister for Science & Technology.

The NIP (National Innovation Portal) currently contains more than 01 lakh innovations searched by common people of the country covering Agriculture, Engineering, Human Health, and Veterinary. At the present, the domain areas for innovation covers Mechanical, Energy, Automobile, Electronics, Electrical, Household, Civil, Chemical, Textiles, Storage Practice, Cultivation Practice, Plant Variety and Protection, Livestock Management, Poultry, Nutraceuticals, etc.

The portal is an initiative towards the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' as it is an exceptional asset for Students, MSMEs, Entrepreneurs, TBIs (Technology Business Incubators), and common people involved in a variety of professions.

Harsh Vardhan, Science and Technology Minister, while speaking on the occasion, emphasized on the expanding importance of traditional knowledge, especially herbal practices which originated from tribal regions and is also one of the key elements of the portal. He further said, "This portal will help institutionalise new ideas by common people towards finding solutions to local problems".

Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary of DST, said, "This portal is being onboarded at a very appropriate time within the ecosystem of India". He further added that the ecosystem of research and innovation and development be created in remote and rural areas, especially in the northeast, tribal, and island areas.

Sharma also explained that the objective of the NIF is not only to engage in searching for ideas but to also take them forward.
