Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated hostels for SC (Scheduled Caste)/ ST (Scheduled Tribe) students in the state. The CM inaugurated virtually three 'Akankhya Hostels' located at Sambalpur, Berhampur and Rourkela and an amount of Rs. 150 crore has been spent on the construction.

The CM notified that the state government has implemented the Akankhya programme to impart education to students belonging to SC and ST category at reputed schools.

Patnaik also launched the 'Sanhati Programme' which will help around 1.5 lakh students to benefit the primary education in their mother tongue.
