On August 16, Union minister Piyush Goyal stated that artificial intelligence, operations research, automation, and other techniques could be an essential support for a metamorphic change to make India a developed country.

Piyush Goyal inaugurated a Pubic Systems Lab (PSL) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. While inaugurating the lab, Goyal said that the lab was envisioned to be a tipping point at the time when the government was focusing on making India a developed country.

Piyush Goyal spoke that what better day to launch this initiative than the day when the country enters the amrit kaal. The upcoming 25 years are going to be a defining journey for India. Artificial intelligence, operations research, automation, and other strategies could be an essential support for a life-changing change to make India a more developed country. The lab initiated will be the indicator of what Prime Minister Narendra Modi has conveyed as the big vision of India- A DEVELOPED NATION. The public system's lab (PSL) could play a crucial role in multiple ways.

The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) and the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer at IIT Delhi have collaborated to establish the PSL for the enhancement of scalable solutions for civic systems and services that influence millions of people. As a part of the three-year agreement, the public systems lab will work closely with the world food programme to recognize projects around food systems, innovations, and management.

One of the offered initiatives of the public systems lab is to include a Public System Fellowship Programme under which the world food programme and IIT Delhi will send professionals to the ministry of food in order to sustain them in making food-based safety nets effective and efficient.
