Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Assam Advanced Health Innovation Institute at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT Guwahati). The ceremony will take place on April 14, when the Prime Minister will be visiting Guwahati on the occasion of Bihu.

Assam Advanced Health Innovation Institute is being put up in cooperation with the Assam government to leverage cutting-edge technologies in order to transform medical science.

The PM will effectively lay the foundation stone when visiting AIIMS Guwahati in the existence of Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam; Shri Keshab Mahanta, Minister, Medical Education and Research, Assam; Dr. Mansukh L. Mandaviya, Minister of Health & Family Welfare of India, Government of India, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, CM of Assam.

Professor Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, said Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute aims to be a centre of excellence for innovation of modern health technologies and progressing boundaries of knowledge in frontier areas of medicine. The institution will be an integrated campus with a Research and Development block, an academic institute for health and human resources, including Postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes, and ancillary support.
