On November 8, 2023, the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 were released by Quacquarelli Symonds, a well-known global higher education think-tank. This year’s rankings are the most comprehensive yet, featuring an impressive 856 institutions across 25 countries and territories.



In this ranking, two of India’s esteemed institutions, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi, made it to the top 50. IIT Bombay, upholding its reputation as India’s premier institution, clinched the 40th spot in the Asian rankings. India takes pride in having the most universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, with 148, an increase of 37 from the previous year.



A closer look at India’s performance in the QS Asia University Rankings 2024 reveals that several notable Indian institutions, including IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and the University of Delhi, all ranked within the top 100. A detailed analysis indicates a steady performance trend, with over half of the ranked universities either holding their ground, advancing, or falling compared to last year’s rankings.



The 25 different countries and territories featured in QS Universities Rankings 2024 are Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China (Mainland), Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macau SAR, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

India has a significant influence in this context, contributing the majority of the new entries, with an increase of 37 from the previous year. In comparison, Mainland China added only seven new institutions to its list of ranked institutions.
