QS World University Rankings: IIT Bombay, Delhi, and JNU Most Sustainable Indian Institutions
A total of 15 Indian universities ranked on the list, with IIT Bombay featuring in the 281-300 rank range, followed by IIT Delhi in the 321-340 rank range, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at the third position- 361-380.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) is the best educational institution in India, according to the inaugural QS World University Rankings. A total of 15 Indian universities ranked on the list, with IIT Bombay featuring in the 281-300 rank range, followed by IIT Delhi in the 321-340 rank range, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) at the third position- 361-380.



QS World University Rankings: Sustainability ranking is a unique framework to assess how academies are making efforts to tackle the world’s most urgent environmental and social problems. This year, experts evaluated more than 1300 higher education institutions meeting specific eligibility conditions, out of which 700 institutions emerged on the final ranking list.



The fourth rank has been reserved for the University of Delhi in the 381-400 rank range, and IIT Kanpur is in the fifth spot- 451-500.



Other Indian universities on the list are the IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, Aligarh Muslim University, Jadavpur University, Indian Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani.



Jadavpur University is one of the only state-run universities from India to feature in the QS Sustainability World Ranking 2023.



Globally, the University of California, Berkeley (from the US) is leading in sustainability as it has earned top scores in the Environmental Impact and Social Impact categories, each contributing 50% of the overall score, followed by the University of Toronto- Second and the University of British Columbia- Third.



Other universities to feature in the top 10 are the University of Edinburgh, the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), the University of Sydney (fifth), the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Tokyo, Yale University, and the University of Auckland.
