Samsung India Launched ‘Samsung Innovation Campus’ with ESSCI to Skill Youth To Develop Opportunities for Jobs in Future Tech
The programme aims to upskill more than 3,000 unemployed youth from 18-25 years of age in future technologies and improve their employability in the pilot phase. Samsung Innovation Campus in India will develop industry-relevant talents and job opportunities for youth in future technological areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Coding and Programming, and the Internet of things.

Recently, Samsung launched its flagship global CSR- Corporate Social Responsibility programme- Samsung Innovation Campus in India to develop industry-relevant talents and job opportunities for youth in future technological areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Coding and Programming, and the Internet of things. With this, Samsung is collaborating with new India’s growth story and bolstering its responsibility to the Government’s Skill India initiative.



The programme aims to upskill more than 3,000 unemployed youth from 18-25 years of age in future technologies and improve their employability in the pilot phase. These are fundamental technology skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Samsung Innovation Campus will also take Samsung a step forward in its vision of ‘Powering Digital India’ as the country’s most powerful partner.



In order to implement the programme, Samsung, India’s most well-renowned smartphone and consumer electronics brand, has collaborated with India’s premier skill development organization, ESSCI- the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, NSDC- a National Skill Development Corporation-approved entity. ESSCI will implement the programme via its nationwide network of authorized training and education partners.



Samsung has signed an MoU- Memorandum of Understanding with ESSCI for the ‘Samsung Innovation Campus’ programme while considering the prospect of employment generation post skills training.



The MoU was swapped by the President, and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, Mr. Ken Kang, and Dr. Abhilasha Gaur, COO (Officiating CEO) of ESSCI, in the existence of the Hon’ble Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship & Electronics and Information Technology Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar.



Hon’ble Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Electronics and Information Technology, Mr. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, stated that there is no deficit of talent in the country but boosted demand for talented and skilled Indians across the globe. Skilling should not be just about providing the youth with employable dexterities but should serve as gateways to employability and employment as their Passports to Prosperity.



He said the more employment-oriented skilling is, the more aspirational it will be for the young Indians and students. It is the concept of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji that digital prospects should be equitably obtainable to every Indian. Mr. Chandrasekhar added- the measures should be taken up not just with premier educational institutes in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.



While welcoming Samsung’s initiative with ESSCI in order to empower young Indians with skills, he expressed that it was a genuine hallmark of being an exemplary partner to India and the Indians and encouraged them to headquarter their programmes in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to secure skilling opportunities for thousands of students from these places.



Mr. Ken Kang, President, and CEO, of Samsung Southwest Asia, stated that Samsung has been India’s partner over the previous 26 years and is determined to Power Digital India, empowering the upcoming generation of young India. He added that we are aligned with the Government’s concept of Skill India and want to create skilling and job opportunities for youth in future technological domains- giving growth to new India’s development story through Samsung Innovation Campus.



During the programme, learners will acquire instructor-led combined classroom and online training via authorized training and education companions of ESSCI across the nation. Youth registered in the programme will experience classroom and online training and complete their hands-on capstone project work in their chosen technology areas from among- Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Coding & Programming, and the Internet of Things.



Secretary, MSDE, Mr. Atul Kumar, stated they witnessed an increased demand for new talents required in future tech jobs. He informed they promote such initiatives and collaborations, which will benefit people of all environments and develop the skills they need to prosper in a fast-changing global economy.



COO, NSDC, Mr. Ved Mani Tiwari, delivered his best wishes for the new cooperation as it will unlock avenues for youth in order to acquire jobs in future technologies.



Learners will also be imparted soft skills training in order to improve their employability and offered job placements in appropriate organisations. The participants will be marshaled via ESSCI’s training and education counterparts across India.



Those seeking an AI course will experience 270 hours of theory training and 80 hours of project work, while those doing the IoT or the Big Data course will undergo 160 hours of training and 80 hours of project work. Participants seeking a Coding & Programming course will do 80 hours of training and be part of a 4-day Hackathon.



Chief Operating Officer (Officiating CEO), ESSCI, Dr. Abhilasha Guar, said that ESSCI focuses on establishing an effective and efficient skill ecosystem for developing and imparting outcome-oriented skills. Dr. Gaur added the Future Tech programme under Samsung Innovation Campus would sustain bolstering the skills ecosystem & will be an essential step ahead to making India a Skills capital of the world.



With Samsung Innovation Campus, Samsung is developing its CSR- Corporate Social Responsibility programmes that concentrate on the education and skills of youth in India. Samsung conducts two other CSR programmes in India – Samsung Smart School andSolve for tomorrow, through which it empowers the leaders of tomorrow and provides them with the tools they will require to recognize significant evolution.
