On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated that supernumerary seats for the single girl child, scholarships for disadvantaged students, and laptops for all are among the incentives delivered by Delhi University for its three newly introduced BTech programmes this year.

The programmes run by the Faculty of Technology are:

  • BTech Computer Science and Engineering

  • BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering

  • BTech Electrical Engineering

A total of 360 students can receive admissions to the courses based on their Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) score, Singh said, adding that a single girl child will get a seat in each of the three programmes.

The vice chancellor declared that from this year, three new BTech programmes would be commenced wherein each of the 360 registered students will be refunded up to Rs 50,000 by the institute on purchasing a laptop. He said the university would also introduce a Financial Support Scheme (FSS) in order to spread the advantages of equity and access to high-quality education to students from economically weaker seeking admission to BTech courses.

He also informed that candidates whose parents' annual income is Rs 4 lakh or less would be offered a 90% fee waiver while taking admission. Candidates whose parents' annual income is over Rs 4 lakh and less than Rs 8 lakh will obtain a 50% fee waiver while taking admission.

He said one seat in each BTech course would be delivered to a single girl child as a supernumerary seat. Delhi University has also added a supernumerary quota for orphan students this year. Each programme will have 120 seats. It means a total of 360 candidates will be accepted.

Students will have multiple exit options in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
