India's first test site, TiHAN-IIT Hyderabad, for Autonomous Navigation Systems has been developed by the Union Minister of Education. This initiative is a multi-divisional initiative including researchers from Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Aeroscpace, Design, and Mathematics at IIT Hyderabad with support and partnership from esteemed industries and organizations.

The DST (Department of Science and Technology), Government of India, has approved the amount of Rs. 135 crores to Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad under the NM-ICPS (National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems) has established a Technology Innovation Hub on Data Acquisition and Autonomous Navigation Systems such as UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles) etc.

This Technology Innovation Hub has been consolidated as a Section-8 company by the organization in 2020. Some of the special features include Simulation of Real-World Environment, Test Tracks, Road Infrastructure, Drones, V2X Communication, Mechanical Integration Facility, Hangars, Centralized Control Room, etc.
