IISc- The Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, is the only Indian educational institute to rank in the top 300 universities in the (THE)- Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), and Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences made it to the top 600 universities.

SS Academy of Higher Education and Research ranked between the top 351-400 institutes, followed by Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences- creating its debut this year in THE World University Rankings 2023.

Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu, and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, ranked between the 401-500 band.

13 Indian institutes secured a place in the 601-700, including Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Jamia Hamdard University, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), IIIT Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and IIT Indore.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, NIT Hamirpur, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Patna, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Panjab University, NIT Tiruchirapalli, and Lovely Professional University (LPU) secured places at 801-1000 band.

University of Delhi (DU) ranked in the 1000-1200 band along with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, IISER Pune, IIT ISM Dhanbad, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Rourkela, Pondicherry University, IIT Mandi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bhubaneshwar, and Jadavpur University.

Throughout the world, the University of Oxford owns the top spot for the seventh consecutive year in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. Around 1,799 universities from 104 countries and regions are ranked this year, 137 more than the previous year.
