The Tamil Nadu Govt has announced a new scheme to educate differently-abled children at their home. Under the scheme, the govt is also contemplating to commence physiotherapy sessions for these children.

Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, TN School Education Minister, informed that the govt has earmarked an amount of Rs. 7.8 crore for the initiative which would immensely benefit the differently-abled children.

Under the scheme, the govt will support children who could not attend school due to intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, and multiple disabilities which falls under high supportive needs and are 18 years old & less.

Each student will be allocated the financial aid of Rs. 10, 000 for their requirements, along with the trained therapists. The special educators will visit their residence under the govt's support.

The aim of the initiative is to provide best of treatment and special education to these kids so no child can miss out on education, he added.

The Education Department has also started the initiative of translating the best books in other languages into Tamil for the students who wish to pursue higher education and need Tamil medium books to study. The translated books will be published by the TN Textbook and Educational Services Corporation. The Govt has allocated Rs. 02 crore for this initiative.

The State School Education Department will also teach the students of the govt schools the traditional folk arts of Tamil Nadu, Kavadi, Kummi, and Karakattam.
