The first-year BTech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) students, S Pavithra and Trisha Reddy, from NMIMS Hyderabad's School of Technology Management and Engineering, emerged as catalysts of innovation by jointly developing a groundbreaking connected drone-based emergency lighting system. Their endeavor garnered widespread acclaim as they presented their research paper, "A Technological-Based Lighting System for Easy Life," at the prestigious IBSSC 2023 conference in Mumbai.

Pavithra and Trisha envisioned a solution to illuminate darkness during power outages or emergencies. Their research paper unveiled a pioneering concept that harnessed the collective power of clusters of drones equipped with intelligent lighting modules. These drones provided illumination and facilitated real-time video transmission to nearby police stations. Integrating surveillance cameras with intelligent lighting further laid the foundation for a virtual security network, enhancing public safety.

The two young minds spent three months gathering data from various reliable sources, meticulously crafting their research paper. Their determination and hard work paid off as they became the youngest participants at the IBSSC conference, earning accolades from esteemed scientists and professors. Sincere gratitude was expressed by Pavithra and Trisha to their mentor, Siddhartha Ghosh, whose guidance and emphasis on self-learning played a pivotal role in their success.

Siddhartha Ghosh, the director of NMIMS, commended the students' achievement and emphasized the institution's firm belief in prioritizing academic research. Recognizing the profound impact of research on student engagement and intellectual growth, he stressed that cultivating a research-oriented mindset empowers students to become independent learners capable of producing high-quality assignments and garnering the attention of software industry product development companies. Ghosh envisioned a new era of learning where the boundaries between physical and virtual worlds merge, becoming the foundation of knowledge acquisition.

This triumph holds special significance as it marks the accomplishment of the first batch of engineering students at NMIMS Hyderabad's campus. The success of Pavithra and Trisha is destined to inspire future students, fostering a culture of research and innovation within the institution. NMIMS, driven by its commitment to excellence, aims to nurture countless more brilliant minds and continue its journey of intellectual exploration.
