On Monday, a city government official, citing a study conducted by a UK university, said more than 90% of parents said that they are optimistic about the future of children studying in Delhi government schools.
The government stated that Delhi's education model has been touching new heights every day under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. University of Glasgow, UK, has released its provisional findings of an impact study on the government’s parental engagement initiatives in Delhi government-aided schools.
The statement said 90.51 percent of parents approved that Delhi government schools are doing a good job, and 90.71 percent agreed that teachers in schools care for students. It said the University of Glasgow shared the findings with Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in a meeting held on Monday.
The statement said the study conducted by Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, concentrated on the influence of the Delhi government’s different parental engagement initiatives, operating in schools measured in the context of the Parents Satisfaction Index. The study also emphasized that about 90% of parents agree that head teachers at Delhi government schools take their duties very seriously.
The statement said about 80% of parents were pleased with the quality of teachers and school management, while 87% said teacher performances in Delhi government schools are exceptional. It said the University of Glasgow conducted the study with Tilburg University and Kings College London researchers. The sample size for the study conducted was 2,886 parents.
While sharing the wisdom from the study led by the University of Glasgow, Manish Sisodia said Parental engagement plays an essential role in education and the holistic development of children. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi government’s Team Education is working relentlessly to raise such opportunities at schools.
He said such studies by leading global universities on our education model authorize us to assess ourselves and think of more innovative strategies to build a conducive learning environment for children in Delhi government schools. Sisodia said it is a matter of pride that leading global universities are now interested in learning parental engagement models in our Delhi government-aided schools. Earlier, Harvard University had examined the Delhi government’s School Management Committee Model, Sisodia added.
