The University of Birmingham's campuses in the UK and Dubai have teamed up with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to make it possible for students to exchange experiences with their new campus in Zanzibar.
This collaboration with IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus, which is the first IIT outside India, allows exceptional students studying at the undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral levels to engage in coursework and research at both University of Birmingham campuses while pursuing their studies at IIT Madras Zanzibar.
Additionally, this partnership includes opportunities for Zanzibar-based undergraduate students to spend up to a year at the University of Birmingham, earning coursework credits that will contribute towards their IIT Madras degree.
Professor Robin Mason, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Birmingham, stated, "This new student exchange initiative, along with our new Joint Masters program, demonstrates the growing relationship between IIT Madras and the University of Birmingham. We are excited to host students from IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus at our campuses in Birmingham and Dubai, fostering even closer educational and research collaborations between our institutions."
This collaboration comes after the two universities established a Joint Masters's program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The program has recently welcomed its inaugural class of students in Chennai. The University of Birmingham mentioned that this latest partnership was solidified in the presence of the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan.
IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus is set to open its doors in October, initially enrolling 50 undergraduate students and 20 Master's students. In its first year, the institution will offer courses in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
