IIT Dhanbad Will provide Free Education to JEE Advanced Top Rank HoldersIIT Dhanbad decided to offer free education to 5 students out of 600 on the merit list of JEE Advanced. The education fees, accommodation, and food facilities of these five students will be waived. The initiative by IIT Dhanbad will be executed from the academic session 2022-23.

UGC Asked All HEIs To Create 25% Seats For Foreign Students in UG & PG programmesThe University Grants Commission issued guidelines asking all Higher Educational Institutions to add 25% of seats in addition to their total number of seats authorized for UG and PG programmes. These seats would only be created for international students.

Russia Is All-Ready To Introduce a New System of Higher Education in 2023For the first time, a timeframe has been offered for when Russia will drop out of the Bologna system, set up in 1999 in order to develop a universal standard for higher education across Europe and acknowledged in 49 countries. The action at a time of elevated geopolitical tension with the West over the war in Ukraine. There is a chance that the new system will be grounded on the 2+2+2 concept, which offers more flexible options and opportunities for students to change their educational programme.

Iranian Students Call for Boycotts, Strikes Among Continuing ProtestsOn Tuesday- 27 September, a statement from the Paris-based secretariat of the (NCRI)- National Council of Resistance of Iran put the digit of those arrested at over 12,000 in the first eleven days of the protests, with deaths surpassing 240. Students from various universities released statements this week and called for strike action and the boycott of online classes. Some students also appealed for the release of all student activists and a return to offline classes. Students also asked their professors to join the strike.

He said the digital economy, education, healthcare, and other sectors would witness the advantage of 5G. New Drug Invented by US Researchers May Turn Covid-19 Virus Against ItselfThe drug, represented in the journal- Nature Chemical Biology, overcoats SARS-CoV-2 with chemicals that can temporarily transform the human ACE2 receptor molecule the virus usually seals onto to infect cells. According to the researchers from The Scripps Research Institute, the drug, called NMT5, is likely to be efficacious against the appearing variants of SARS-CoV-2.

Kerala: General Education Minister Introduced a New Interactive Device For Digital StudiesKerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty introduced the ‘KITE Board’ application, which is a multi-purpose, device-independent, FOSS-based, interactive device that would enable teachers with hassle-free use of hi-tech equipment in classrooms. The KITE Board also promotes the storage of content written on Blackboard by the teacher in PDF form- a characteristic that would help students unable to attend a class. It also records activities done on the Board using the screen recording feature.

DU to Begin A Centre For Disabilities Studies To Make Education All-InclusiveBipin Kumar Tiwari, an officer on special duty at the Delhi University's Equal Opportunity Cell, said that Delhi University is beginning a centre for disabilities studies under which various courses will be started. The centre's emphasis will be to make education and administration more all-inclusive. He added that the centre would offer a superior priority on sign language. He said we plan to start several computer-related & skill enhancement courses under the centre.

Amazon Launches 'Amazon Future Engineer' Computer Science Education ProgrammeAmazon Future Engineer aspires to manage the gap by bringing access and early exposure to computer science education through in-person, online and integrated learning formats. In India, the programme will focus on the students in 6-12 classes and will also provide training to teachers for guiding computer science more engagingly. Amazon is carrying out this education programme in the UK, France, India, the US, Germany, and Canada.

How Students From Small Indian Towns Are Pursuing Education Overseas; Affordable Countries & Student LoansAccording to a report released on Tuesday, overseas study platform LeapScholar discovered that 57 percent of Indian middle-class families with a family income in the range of Rs 3-10 lakh were sloped to spend on overseas education. The reasons mentioned include the promise of global career opportunities, premium education and lifestyle, and better salaries.

Six months later, a Delay in the distribution of 2 lakh textbooks for students in Uttar PradeshSix months have passed since the distribution of textbooks began in the state, and around two crore school textbooks are yet to reach students. There are about 1.92 crore students registered in 1.33 lakh schools in the state. Districts that lag in the distribution of textbooks to learners are Sant Kabir Nagar, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Sonbhadra, and Etawah.

US Visa Appointments are Open Now; Delay Times Longer Due to High DemandThe embassy said that due to decreased staffing and multiple pandemic-related disturbances to operations since March 2020, appointment demand for visas is increased across all categories, and delay times may be longer for most standard non-immigrant visa appointments at the embassy in New Delhi and the consulates in Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
